Brush Fire Behind Rona in Vernon

UPDATE October 9 2025 - Turns out last nights brush fire was a debris pile of what may be cut trees.

Vernon, BC October 8, 2025 - Emergency calls began arriving just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday reporting a rapidly spreading brush fire visible from Highway 97 and the 27th Street off-ramp.

Vernon Fire Rescue and BX Swan Lake crews responded, with RCMP also on scene. The blaze burned in a wooded area behind Rona, near 20th Street.

There are no reports of injuries at this time, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
