Vernon Search and Rescue Rescue One Person By Helicopter

Updated: Jan 22, 2023

January 21, 2023:

UPDATE: Early Saturday afternoon Vernon Search and Rescue (VSAR) volunteers were called to assist in locating and transporting an injured person from the backcountry East of Enderby.

According to Vernon Search and Rescue, an injured snowmobiler at the Hunters Range Snowmobile area east of Enderby was rescued.

Rapidly changing weather conditions at the time of the rescue presented a special challenge for SAR TECHs.

In a post VSAR stated:

"Due to changing weather conditions, we responded with a local helicopter operator and deployed our Sled Team as a backup. The Sled Team arrived just as the helicopter was preparing to land, and the rider was safely loaded into the helicopter and transferred to BCEHS at the Vernon Airport".

Also involved in the rescue, the Enderby fire department and members of the Hunters Range Snowmobile Association.

VSAR commends the injured snowmobilers' companions for being prepared and able to keep their fellow snowmobiler warm and safe until help arrived.
