October 28 2025 - Environment Canada has issued a Blowing Snow Advisory for the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna, warning of visibility dropping below 800 metres overnight as strong winds combine with new snowfall.
Drivers are reminded that travel may become hazardous, especially through exposed high-elevation sections like Pennask Summit (elevation 1700 m).

Winter tires are now mandatory on mountain highways, and drivers are urged to check DriveBC.ca for updates before travelling.
Current conditions
Pennask Summit early Tuesday show air temperature at -6°C, road temperature -7°C, with light precipitation and southeast winds gusting up to 16 km/h.
Weather over the next 24 hours
Weather is expected to worsen: snow will begin near noon today with 2 cm expected, intensifying overnight with 5 to 10 cm of snow and gusty winds up to 70 km/h. On Wednesday, flurries may continue through the morning before skies begin to clear later in the day.
