Overcast conditions helped limit fire behaviour Friday, though crews observed Rank 2 fire activity (low to moderate surface fire) with pockets of Rank 3 (vigorous surface fire and some candling where wind and slope align).

Resources on scene include:

  • 41 firefighters

  • 4 helicopters

  • Heavy equipment

  • Structure protection units

Crews and machinery are working along both the southeast and northwest flanks of the fire to build containment lines. The blaze continues to threaten the Munro Lake Forest Service Road and Peachland Main Road.

The suspected cause is human activity, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

Authorities are urging the public to follow evacuation instructions and stay clear of the fire area.

Evacuation support services are available through designated reception centres.
