What’s the Most Requested Recipe?

October 27 2026 - Marry Me Chicken is often cited as one of the most requested recipes of recent years.

The dish was created in 2016 by Lindsay Funston, then an editor at Delish. It began as a Sicilian-style skillet chicken. During a video shoot, a staff member tasted it and said, “I’d marry you for that chicken!”, and the name stuck.

The recipe has remained a favorite ever since, especially after going viral on social media in the early 2020s, and it has repeatedly ranked near the top of popularity lists from major recipe sites.

Classic Marry Me Chicken: Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • Salt and black pepper

  • 1–2 Tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 4–5 garlic cloves, minced

  • ½–¾ cup sun-dried tomatoes (oil-packed, drained and chopped)

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • ¾–1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or fresh thyme

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes, fresh basil for garnish

  • Serve with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

  2. In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed and cook the garlic for 30–60 seconds until fragrant. Add the sun-dried tomatoes and cook briefly.

  3. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the cream, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a gentle simmer.

  4. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the top, and cook another 5–10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

  5. Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

This is a straightforward, widely adapted version of the creamy sun-dried tomato chicken that Delish popularized.
