Watermain Break Disrupts Traffic Near Pottery Road in Vernon

December 30 2025 - Vernon city crews are responding to a watermain break that occurred around 5 p.m. Tuesday evening on 18th Street, between Pottery Road and 20th Avenue.

The City of Vernon says approximately 40 properties are affected, with water service potentially shut off for an extended period while crews work to isolate the break.

Water has been flowing downhill from Pottery Road onto Highway 6 and along Kalamalka Road.

At this time, it is unclear whether any property damage has occurred.

Traffic is impacted in the area, including on Highway 6, though vehicles are still moving. Drivers are urged to use caution and expect delays, as sanders and plows are operating to manage water and road conditions.

The city says updates will be provided as more information becomes available and thanks residents and motorists for their patience.
