Vernon Fire Rescue has sent resources to help fight the wildfire raging out of control north of Cranbrook BC.
Early this afternoon Vernon Tender 1 and crew started an 8-hour drive to the Kootneys.
A Tenders primary function is to deliver water to firefighters in areas without fire hydrants.
St Marys Fire just north of Cranbrook BC is estimated to be approximately 800 hectares Wednesday afternoon. Homes have been lost.
Current resources deployed on the St Marys wildfire include:
- Wildfire crews
- Firefighting aircraft
- Heavy earth-moving equipment
- Structure Protection crews.
There are also active EVACUATION ORDERS and Alerts for the area in effect.
