Second Rock-Throwing Incident Hits Same Area of Polson Place Mall in Vernon

April 8 2026 VERNON - Less than two days after a rock-throwing incident damaged multiple windows at Polson Place Mall, the same vulnerable section of the building was targeted again early Wednesday morning.

Windows damaged 2nd time in as many days Polson Place Mall Vernon

On Monday, April 6, Polson Place Mall in the 2300 block of Highway 6 was the target of a person throwing rocks through at its windows. Several windows were reportedly damaged.

Once again, Wednesday, April 8, shortly before 8 a.m., fresh damage was discovered on the back side of the mall, the area closest to the railway tracks and across from Polson Park.

A large plate-glass window that had apparently been smashed on Monday and replaced was chipped again by what appears to be rock damage, though it did not fully break this time.

Directly below it, a smaller window sustained a roughly 7-inch hole, with several rocks found on the ground nearby.

A staff member was observed sweeping up broken glass and temporarily covering the hole with cardboard and duct tape.

After mall security left the scene a business owner swept up the broken glass and covered the hole with cardboard and duct tape.

The is the second incident in approximately 36 hours targeting the mall windows.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the two events are linked or released any updates on potential suspect or suspects.

Anyone with information or additional security footage is asked to contact Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
