Residents Displaced After Late-Night Vernon Fire, Blaze could be seen for Kilometres
October 5, 2025 - The late-night house fire that tore through the roof of a home on Hawksbill Place Friday has left the residence uninhabitable.
The fire, believed to have started on the exterior of the house, remains under investigation. Officials have not indicated any criminal activity is suspected.
Neighbours tell ExNews.net the residents, believed to be renters, escaped safely with their pets after being alerted by a neighbour who noticed the flames.
Others helped slow the fires spread by wetting hedge trees with garden hoses before fire crews arrived.
Emergency Support Services (ESS) has provided temporary accommodation and essentials for the displaced residents.
