Vernon Fire Rescue respond to reports of a drowning

The emergency was reported late Wednesday afternoon in the Okanagan Landing area.

January 8 2026 - The incident occurred January 7, just before 6 p.m., in Okanagan Lake near the docks behind the 7700 block of Okanagan Landing Road.

Emergency crews, some wearing what appeared to be cold-water gear, were seen on the dock preparing the victim for transport. Vernon Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance Service, and RCMP all attended the scene.

One person was taken to hospital by ambulance. There has been no word on the circumstances surrounding the incident or on the condition of the victim.
