Fast work by Vernon Fire Rescue prevents the spread of a fast-growing fire.
Shortly before 12:30 am Saturday morning 911 operators received reports of a tree fully engulfed by fire at Highway 97 and the 27th Street exit.
When firefighters arrived on the scene the fire had already spread to the surrounding grass and was growing quickly.
After what seemed like little more than a minute or two, Vernon Fire Rescue had knocked down the blaze.
No cause for the fire has been released.
