Two grass fires reported in Vernon’s Commonage area
August 4 2026 - A grass fire was reported just after 1 p.m. today just south of Bench Road on Commonage.
About half an hour later, while Vernon Fire Rescue crews were still working the first grass fire, a second fire was reported near Commonage and Bench Road.
Vernon Fire Rescue initiated mutual aid and were joined by crews and equipment from Coldstream fire hall.
That blaze was at Carlson Park on Bench Road away from the road in a wooded area.
Two helicopters fighting the Bradley Creek fire were diverted to aid fire crews on the Carlson Park fire.
No word if the fires are being treated as suspicious. No cause for the blazes has been released.
