Unofficial estimates put structure losses near 230

August 5 2026 - The Bradley Creek wildfire (K41351) near Westside Road in the North Okanagan continues to burn out of control at 2,852 hectares, according to a BC Wildfire Service update issued Tuesday evening, Aug. 4.

There was no significant growth on the fire Tuesday. BCWS is assisting the Okanagan Indian Band Fire Department. Crews and heavy equipment worked to establish control lines on the west flank, extinguished hotspots near homes along Bonneau Road, Westside Road and other community areas, and conducted small hand ignitions to remove unburned fuel near Irish Creek Road.

Structure protection teams remained on site overnight with roving patrols. Night-vision aerial support continued operations along Irish Creek Road, the Westside Road corridor, and the Highway 97/St. Anne’s Road area.

Resources currently assigned include 98 firefighters, 11 helicopters, 15 pieces of heavy equipment and 104 structure protection personnel.

Four evacuation orders and three evacuation alerts remain in effect from the Okanagan Indian Band, Township of Spallumcheen, Splatsin, Regional District of North Okanagan and Columbia Shuswap Regional District.

Westside Road and Highway 97 stay closed at time of publication.

The Bradley Creek Wildfire was discovered July 31

The fire, discovered July 31, exploded in size on Aug. 1 under extreme winds that reached sustained speeds of 80 km/h on the ground and 115 km/h at elevation, pushing it across Westside Road to Okanagan Lake and later northeast across Highway 97.

It has not spotted across the lake.

By some unofficial estimates, approximately 230 homes and structures have been lost to the fire. Official damage assessments are ongoing.
