Vernon Could See First Taste of Winter as Flurries Expected

November 25 2025 - Vernon may see a shift toward wintry weather this week as Environment Canada is calling for wet flurries, periods of wet snow, and cooler temperatures across the North Okanagan.

As of 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Vernon was sitting at 2°C with mostly cloudy conditions and falling pressure at 102.7 kPa, hinting at an approaching system. Humidity was 80% with light WSW winds at 3 km/h.




Wet Snow Tonight, More Flurries Through the Week

A 30% chance of wet flurries is expected this afternoon, with temperatures holding near 2°C.Tonight, the region will see periods of wet snow with up to 2 cm possible before morning.


Wednesday brings another chance of morning flurries before skies begin to clear late in the afternoon. Daytime highs will reach 3°C.


More snow or rain is expected Thursday, with several nights ahead bringing a 60% chance of flurries as temperatures dip below freezing.


Daytime highs will hover near 0°C to 3°C through the weekend—close to seasonal normals of 1°C (high) and –5°C (low).


Highway Conditions for Travellers

With many Vernon-area residents travelling major Interior highways this week, winter driving conditions are developing across multiple routes.


Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt

  • Snow begins this morning and continues through tonight.

  • 2–4 cm expected overnight.

  • Snow persists into Wednesday morning before tapering off.

  • Snow level near valley bottom.


Coquihalla Highway – Merritt to Kamloops

  • Mainly cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries this afternoon and evening.

  • Gusty winds at times.

  • Cloudy conditions hold through Wednesday.


Okanagan Connector – Merritt to Kelowna

  • Cloudy with a 40% chance of flurries late this morning.

  • Snow begins late this afternoon along with gusty winds.

  • 2–4 cm expected tonight before tapering to a chance of flurries.

  • Cloudy and windy on Wednesday.


Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton (Allison Pass)

  • Periods of snow begin this morning.

  • 2–4 cm expected tonight as snow ends near midnight.

  • Snow level near 500 m.

  • Cloudy Wednesday.


Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass

  • Mainly cloudy today with snow starting late this afternoon.

  • 2–4 cm expected tonight.

  • Snow ends Wednesday morning, followed by mainly cloudy skies.
