Christmas Is Over, Here’s What to Do With Your Live Tree in Vernon
Christmas is over, so what should you do with your live tree? For residents of Vernon, there’s a free and environmentally friendly option to recycle it.

The City of Vernon is offering a free Christmas tree drop-off site at the Marshall Field parking lot (west entrance) at 6891 Okanagan Landing Road.
The site is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to dusk, now through January 18.
Trees must be fresh and undecorated, with all lights, ornaments, tinsel, stands, and non-natural materials removed. Artificial, flocked, or commercial trees are not accepted. Collected trees are chipped and turned into compost.
As an alternative, residents can also take their trees to the Greater Vernon Diversion & Disposal Facility at 120 Birnie Road, where Christmas trees are accepted free of charge until the end of January.
There is no curbside pickup for Christmas trees in Vernon.
Residents who prefer pickup can arrange a voluntary collection through the 1st BX Scouts on January 10, with a minimum $15 donation supporting local scouting programs.
