Two Seniors Killed in Yankee Flats Residential Fire

January 26 2026 - Two senior residents have died following a residential structure fire in the Yankee Flats area on Saturday night, January 24, 2026.

Silver Creek and Falkland fire departments were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. to reports of a fully involved residential structure fire.

The residence was a recreational vehicle that had been modified with constructed add-ons.

A 911 call from a resident outside the unit reported the structure was actively burning inside.

Fire crews arrived to find the residence completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and ensure it did not spread beyond the structure.

After the fire was brought under control, preliminary investigation confirmed the deaths of two occupants.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation with assistance from the Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Coroner’s Office.
