May 17, 2026 - The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) put Stage 2Â water restrictions in place on May 7, 2026Â for the entire Greater Vernon Water system.

RDNO implemented the restrictions due to low snowpack, warmer-than-normal spring temperatures, and below-average rainfall. The measures apply to all customers in Vernon, Coldstream, parts of Spallumcheen, and Electoral Areas B, C, and D.
What this means:
Reduce your total water use by 20%.
Lawns should be watered once per week at most.
Allowed watering days:
Odd addresses – Tuesday and/or Saturday
Even addresses – Wednesday and/or Sunday
No watering between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Hand watering with a can or shut-off hose is allowed up to 3 days a week (outside peak hours).
Agricultural users must also cut daily and annual water use by 20%.
RDNO says these steps are essential to protect drinking water supplies, fish habitat, and firefighting resources through the dry summer ahead.
Full details and exemption information are available at rdno.ca.
