Stage 2 Water Restrictions Now in Effect for Greater Vernon

May 17, 2026 - The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) put Stage 2 water restrictions in place on May 7, 2026 for the entire Greater Vernon Water system.

RDNO implemented the restrictions due to low snowpack, warmer-than-normal spring temperatures, and below-average rainfall. The measures apply to all customers in Vernon, Coldstream, parts of Spallumcheen, and Electoral Areas B, C, and D.

What this means:

• Reduce your total water use by 20%.

• Lawns should be watered once per week at most.

• Allowed watering days:

  Odd addresses – Tuesday and/or Saturday

  Even addresses – Wednesday and/or Sunday

• No watering between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

• Hand watering with a can or shut-off hose is allowed up to 3 days a week (outside peak hours).

Agricultural users must also cut daily and annual water use by 20%.

RDNO says these steps are essential to protect drinking water supplies, fish habitat, and firefighting resources through the dry summer ahead.
