May 14 2026 - A 20-hectare wildfire discovered on Monday, May 11, 2026, remains out of control approximately one kilometre from Highway 6 between Nakusp and Fauquier.

Lightning is suspected cause of this wildfire

The lightning-caused fire, designated N50313, is burning near Fairhurst Creek just east of Upper Arrow Lake. As of the latest update on May 13, one unit crew has been assigned to the blaze.


Officials report they are managing the fire with a combination of suppression and values-protection tactics to minimize damage while allowing ecological benefits where possible.


No evacuation alerts or orders have been issued, and there are currently no area restrictions near the incident.


The wildfire is still classified as out of control and continues to be monitored closely by crews.
