LYTTON, B.C. April 6 2026 - A 10-hectare wildfire is burning out of control near Siska Creek, just south of Lytton in the Fraser Canyon, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

Fire K70022 was discovered earlier today and remains out of control as of an update at 4:23 p.m. PDT. The blaze is located in the Kamloops Fire Centre and is suspected to be human-caused.


No evacuation alerts or orders have been issued for the area, and there are currently no area restrictions in place.


As of 5:10 p.m. local time, the fire has not shown significant growth beyond its initial 10-hectare size, but crews are monitoring closely given the "out of control" classification, which indicates potential for further spread beyond the current perimeter.


This early-season fire comes in the Kamloops Fire Centre, where the 2026 wildfire season officially began on April 1.


Residents near Siska and Lytton are advised to check with local authorities for the latest updates and to remember conditions can change quickly.
