Small Fire Quickly Extinguished at Vernon Apartment Building

March 5 2026 - Firefighters were called to a multi-storey residential building in Vernon Thursday afternoon after reports of visible flames near the entrance.
Vernon Fire Rescue Service responded shortly after 3 p.m. on March 5, 2026, to the 2600 block of 35th Street following reports of flames above the front entrance to the building.
Crews quickly located the fire and were able to extinguish it in short order. Firefighters were later seen using a saw to cut along the edges of the building’s awning so they could check that the fire had not spread into the overhang.
No injuries have been reported. RCMP also attended the scene.
