RCMP Seize Shotgun from Driver Who Received Roadside Warn in Lumby

LUMBY, B.C.: July 16 2026 - Vernon North Okanagan RCMP seized a 12-gauge shotgun after spotting its barrel sticking out the rear window of a vehicle with the driver asleep behind the wheel.

Officers responded shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, to Birch Rd and Mabel Lake Rd.

According to RCMP, the man showed signs of alcohol impairment and registered a “Warn” on a roadside screening device.

He received a 3-day roadside prohibition. His uninsured vehicle was towed and impounded.

He was released pending further investigation into firearms-related offences.
