Vernon Man Arrested After Late-Night Shooting on Okanagan Hills Boulevard
Vernon, B.C. – A 33-year-old man is in custody following a late-night shooting incident on Okanagan Hills Boulevard in Vernon, according to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
The incident, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, stemmed from an earlier assault between a man and a woman in a vehicle parked at a roadside pullout.

Police responded to reports of gunfire and determined that the male suspect, after the initial altercation, returned to the scene and allegedly fired a weapon multiple times.
The suspect fled but was later located and arrested without incident in the Falkland area. He remains in custody pending his initial court appearance.
Authorities have not released further details about the suspect, the victim, or the circumstances leading to the assault and subsequent shooting, but police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
Gun-related incidents remain relatively rare in the North Okanagan region.
While the region is generally considered safe, recent reports of firearms-related calls, including a March 2025 incident in Kelowna where six girls were arrested after allegedly bringing a firearm to a restaurant, highlight the challenges law enforcement faces in managing illegal or misused firearms. These incidents, though isolated, underscore the need for continued vigilance and community cooperation to address potential risks associated with gun violence.
Anyone with information about the Okanagan Hills Boulevard shooting is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171, quoting file number 2025-7326.
