Residents allowed to return home today after Quilpituk Creek wildfire evacuation orders downgraded

August 14 2026 - Residents displaced by the Quilpituk Creek wildfire can begin returning home Friday under a phased re-entry plan after Central Okanagan Emergency Operations downgraded all evacuation orders to alerts and lifted previous alerts.
The official announcement was issued Friday morning. Evacuation orders covering properties from Cinnabar Creek to Westshore Estates have been changed to evacuation alerts. Alerts for properties south of Cinnabar Creek in the Wilson’s Landing area have been fully lifted.
Phased return schedule
Beginning 9 a.m.: Residents of Cinnabar Creek, Secret Point, Shelter Cove, Caesars Landing and Nahun
Beginning 10 a.m.: Residents of La Casa, Fintry, Upper Fintry, Shalal Road, Valley of the Sun and Ewings Landing
Beginning 11 a.m.: Residents of Estamont Beach, Killiney Beach and Westshore Estates
Access is restricted to the south end of Westside Road from West Kelowna.
The north end of the road remains closed, with no public access past Westshore Estates.
Traffic control personnel are on site, local traffic only is permitted, and a no-stopping zone is in effect near the fire area.
An information checkpoint has been set up at Wilson’s Landing Fire Station, where residents will receive the Returning Home Guide.
No structural losses have been reported.
Residents remaining under alert status are reminded to stay prepared to leave if conditions change.
