Vernon BC - A local home on Baker Hogg Road has been saved from demolition while a major water project moves forward. The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) built a new reservoir on the site, roughly enough to hold 720 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of water, to boost supply and improve fire protection for Swan Lake and Spallumcheen.

Instead of tearing down the house, it was relocated to a new owner, keeping it in use and reducing waste.
The reservoir, completed in 2021, also connects to the Grey Canal Trail, adding a community benefit.
