Power Outage Hits Vernon BC Area, Nearly 1,800 Affected

A major power outage is impacting parts of Vernon BC this evening, leaving 1,774 BC Hydro customers without electricity.

The outage, reported just after 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, covers the area north of Highway 6, south of Rimer Road, west of Phillips Road, and east of 40th Avenue. The cause is still under investigation, but BC Hydro says a crew has been assigned to the scene.

Several businesses are affected, reportedly including Walmart, which has closed its doors until power is restored.
