June 11 2026, Vernon, B.C. - Drivers heading north on Highway 97 in an area locally known as Hospital Hill suddenly found themselves lined up behind a trailer carrying 16 portable toilets that had suddenly stopped in the fast lane.

A pickup truck pulling the long trailer lost a rear wheel shortly before noon Thursday, causing an immediate traffic backup.
Northbound traffic was reduced to a single lane as the disabled rig sat in the fast lane with its load of empty portable outhouses.

The driver was seen rolling the detached tire alongside the trailer while waiting for help. No injuries were reported. The cause of the wheel detachment is still unknown.
Once the pickup and trailer were removed traffic began flowing again.
