Police Investigating Theft of Truck and ATV

What Happened in the Vernon ATV Theft

RCMP in the North Okanagan are investigating a bold early morning theft that escalated into a cross-country chase through the Vernon area on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Around 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a break and enter at a business located in the 6300-block of Highway 97 Frontage Road in Vernon. Suspects had cut through a perimeter fence and made off with a side-by-side ATV along with a trailer that was hauling a child-sized quad.

The trailer was later found abandoned, but the side-by-side ATV was spotted multiple times, first on Noble Canyon Road, then later near Cherryville on Creighton Valley Road. An individual operating another side-by-side attempted to intercept the suspect, resulting in a collision that caused both vehicles to roll.

Truck Stolen After Confrontation

As events unfolded, the owner of the stolen ATV arrived at the scene and confronted the suspect. In the ensuing moments, the suspect jumped into the owner's nearby truck — a blue 2022 Ford F-350 that had been left running — and fled the area.

The stolen truck was last seen towing a flatdeck trailer. The RCMP have released the license plate information in hopes the public can help locate the vehicle.

A photo of the stolen vehicle has been released to aid in the search.
