Pickup takes out power pole on Silver Star Road

November 13 2025 - A pickup truck crashed into a power pole early Thursday morning, knocking out electricity to parts of the North Okanagan.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. on Silver Star Road just east of L&A Road. The vehicle ended up in a nearby field, and the incident appears to involve only one vehicle.

Unconfirmed reports allege the truck was stolen and that the driver fled the scene. Police were reportedly still searching for the suspect as of mid-morning.

According to BC Hydro, 25 customers lost power in the area northwest of Silver Star Road, south of Duncan Road, and east of L&A Road. Crews were on-site working to replace the pole and restore service, with power expected back by about 3:30 p.m.

Traffic detours remain in effect while crews continue cleanup and repairs.
