The District of Coldstream Has Just Released Their Schedule For The Replacement Of The Kal Beach Rotary Pier.
November 15, 2024: Beginning next Monday the replacement of the Rotary Pier at Kalamalka beach will begin with the dismantling of the wooden structure built circa 1950.
Once completed the new structure will feature steel piles and bracing, pressure-treated timber stringers, and composite decking, ensuring greater durability and resilience against future extreme weather events.
Burton Marine Pile Driving Inc. will begin mobilizing at Kalamalka Beach on Monday, November 18, 2024, with demolition of the existing pier scheduled to start on Tuesday,
November 19, 2024. The demolition process is expected to take approximately three weeks, with the installation of the new pier set to be completed by the end of January, weather permitting.
While construction is underway, Kalamalka Beach will remain open to the public. For safety reasons, the construction area will be enclosed with fencing. Visitors are advised to stay clear of the work zone.
The budget for the project is $541,800, with an additional $34,000 allocated for potential extra steel pilings if needed, funded by the Canada Community Building Fund.
