Last Friday a person was seriously burned in Justice Park. RCMP say the person died later that day hospital
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit is investigating the death.
The incident was first reported to police at approximately 6 am Friday, June 23rd, 2023.
Officers on the scene worked evidence from the north part of Justice Park to the entrance of the Vernon Public Library. The two locations were connected by what appeared to be a trail of blood drops.
The investigation is ongoing, but RCMP is saying the burn victim's death is being considered suspicious.

If you were in the area of Justice Park between 6 am and 6:40 am Friday, June 23rd and you recall seeing something "suspicious" or perhaps you drove through the area and have a dashcam that may have captured something helpful, RCMP asks you to contact them at (250) 545-7171 and quote file number 2023-10559.
Out of respect for the privacy of the family, the victim’s identity is not being released.
