Dodge Challenger Impounded After High-Speed Stop on Highway 97C
April 6 2026 - A 29-year-old man from Coldstream had his black Dodge Challenger impounded after RCMP officers clocked the vehicle travelling at 207 km/h on Highway 97C.

According to BC Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on April 1, 2026, at approximately 2:25 p.m.
The eastbound Challenger was stopped near Elkhart, where police say radar measured its speed at 207 km/h, well above the posted 110 km/h limit.
The driver received a ticket for excessive speed (more than 60 km/h over the limit) under section 148(1) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act, with a fine of $483. He was also responsible for the costs of towing and a mandatory seven-day vehicle impound.
In addition, the man faces at least three years of high-risk driver premiums, with total estimated costs, including increased insurance rates, reaching approximately $2,500.
Corporal Michael McLaughlin of the BC Highway Patrol reminded drivers to slow down and pull to the right when stopped by police.
