Highway 97A reopens through Enderby after serious crash forced closure

September 21, 2026 - Highway 97A was shut in both directions through Enderby this morning after a serious vehicle incident.

The incident occurred in the northern part of Enderby, very near the Enderby and District Fire Hall on Highway 97A, also known as George Road when it passes through town.

First responders were on scene about 4 a.m. Monday and remained there until before noon, almost 8 hours.

At the crash location, a vehicle with a heavily damaged or collapsed roof was witnessed being taken away on a flatbed tow truck.

BC Hydro crews were also on scene, replacing a power pole using crane and boom trucks.

Unconfirmed reports from the scene suggest the crash may have involved a fatality.

That has not been confirmed by RCMP.
