Grass Fire Contained Near Predator Ridge

July 2 2026 - Vernon firefighters quickly extinguished another grass fire Thursday afternoon. This time the grass fire was on Commonage Road, just north of Predator Ridge.

The Grass Fire was very close to power poles

Multiple callers contacted 911 operators just before 1 p.m. to report the blaze in the 300 Block of Commonage Road.

When crews arrived, they found several good Samaritans already on scene, using whatever tools and equipment they had on hand to keep the flames from spreading.

RCMP officers were also present as firefighters took over.

The fire was burning close to a hydro power pole. Fire crews knocked down the remaining flames within minutes saving the wooden structure.

Firefighters then thoroughly doused the area and mopped up lingering hotspots to prevent any re-ignition.

No injuries or structural damage were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released
