Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Trans-Canada Highway Near Canoe, B.C.

June 13 2026 - A serious crash early Saturday morning has closed the Trans-Canada Highway near Canoe, backing up traffic in both directions.

Unconfirmed reports say patient extrication was required

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 7:30 a.m. following reports of a collision on the highway at Kangaroo Road.

Salmon Arm Fire Department, Eagle Valley Rescue, RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and an BC Air Ambulance responded to the incident, which is believed to involve multiple patients.

Emergency responders established a landing zone for the air ambulance while treating the injured.

Clearing the backlog of vehicles proved challenging, as the narrow road made it difficult for large trucks and semi-trailers to turn around.

At time of writing the highway remains closed in the area while crews continue their work.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
