UPDATE: Cargo Of Semi Revealed By Journalist

In an October 9, 2025, Instagram post, Vancouver journalist Bob Kronbauer, widely known as BC Bob and founder of Vancouver Is Awesome, documented the cargo inside the semi-truck trailer still embedded in Westwold’s historic barn three months after its July 16 crash.

Removing the truck without causing further collapse is going to be a delicate task, almost like playing a giant game of Jenga with a semi.

The footage revealed hundreds of medical samples for testing, ranging from cancer screenings to HIV and other diseases, all from Interior Health facilities across the BC Interior.

Interior Health confirmed on October 13 that the samples were recovered by hazmat teams and safely disposed of, with no public risk. His video exposé can be viewed here: instagram.com/p/C8kL5m2pQRS.

Semi-Truck Still Lodged in Westwold Barn, Removal Remains a Puzzle

Westwold, BC – Months after a semi-truck crashed into a familiar barn along Highway 97 on the vehicle remains lodged inside.

The Crash occurred July 16 2025.

Unconfirmed reports say the semi driver sustained minor injuries, but the barn, a long standing fixture in the small community of Westwold BC, has garnered attention because of the unusual damage and high visibility to passing motorists.

Barns are not built to withstand collisions with a semi truck and trailer.

Built as a simple frame covered with planks, possibly with a second floor and compartments for livestock or hay, the barn now has boards scattered around the crash site.

Removing the truck without causing further collapse is going to be a delicate task, almost like playing a giant game of Jenga with a semi.

Scaffolding and security fencing have appeared on the north and south sides, suggesting preparations we may soon see progress around the structure.

The exact plan remains unclear.

Social media rumours hint at delays caused by differing opinions among involved parties and insurance considerations. One commenter said, “it’s currently a battle of how it’s going to be done,” while others noted the need for caution to avoid more damage. Bottom line is

Despite the slow progress, the barn’s location on a main highway ensures the crash is seen daily by hundreds, if not thousands, of motorists.

No timeline has been published for removing the truck, which undoubtably involves coordination among the truck owner, engineers, insurance representatives, and possibly legal parties.
