March 29, 2026 - Drivers on the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) between Hope and Kamloops faced a difficult evening, with social media users calling travel conditions a mess and advising others not to drive unless necessary.
Reports indicated compact snow made driving challenging, with several vehicles, including a semi-truck, leaving the road near Zopkios on the northbound lanes.
Environment Canada forecasts showed early evening rain changing to wet flurries as snow levels dropped, with 2–4 cm possible in the Nicola area before clearing after midnight.
Lows dipped to around -7°C with wind chill near -10°C.
Conditions are expected to improve Monday with mainly sunny skies and highs near 8–10°C.
