Coquihalla and SilverStar Show Light Snow Covering This Morning
October 10 2026 - Reports this morning confirm a light dusting of snow has settled on shoulders and trees near the Coquihalla Summit (Zopkios area, around 1,210 m), while the main roadway remains largely clear.

A weather station at Helmer Lake (24 km north of Merritt, 1,385 m) reported -1°C air and a 1°C road surface with dry conditions and no recent precipitation at 8 a.m.
Environment Canada’s Saturday forecast calls for flurries near Coquihalla summits this morning and early afternoon (snow levels 1,200–1,400 m), with a 60 per cent chance of showers or flurries depending on the section.

Gusty winds continue, but conditions are expected to clear late this evening, leading into sunny skies Sunday.
At SilverStar, the village webcam shows a light covering of snow around the base, matching the resort’s Saturday forecast of rain and snow (high 7°C, low -3°C) before clearer and colder weather arrives Sunday through Tuesday.
The overnight reports of light wet snow and slush on the Coquihalla and Okanagan Connector have transitioned into this morning’s higher-elevation dusting, with main driving surfaces holding up so far.
These remain short-lived, elevation-dependent falls expected to taper by tonight. Mountain conditions can still change quickly, winter tires are required on most provincial mountain highways.
Safe Thanksgiving weekend travel.
