Car Fire Highway 97 Slows NB Traffic Vernon

2024-10-06: A fully involved car fire slowed traffic on Highway 97 Sunday afternoon. The fire started around 4:30 PM on Highway 97 in the Northbound lanes between Predator Ridge and Kekuli Bay.

Multiple loud bangs could be heard as the vehicles gas tank and tires exploded. A column of thick black smoke could be seen from as far away as Coldstream. Multiple vehicle stopped to assist slowing and directing traffic around the blazing car.

No injuries reported.
