BC Snow Warnings Were Accurate

December 1, 2025 - It’s been a messy day on Interior highways as Environment Canada’s yellow snowfall warning for parts of the Cariboo, North Okanagan and Thompson materialized exactly as forecasters predicted. Steady snow through the day left many routes slick and slow by evening.
Morning warnings of winter conditions gave way to real-time trouble on Interior roads.
Emergency dispatchers were busy dealing with reports of vehicles off the road from Chase to Barriere to Vernon and beyond.
Emergency responders not only had to contend with snowy roads, they also faced heavy traffic and the occasional spun-out semi, like the one blocking the Trans Canada Highway at Savona.

Those local incidents, combined with plows working to clear the Trans-Canada near Revelstoke, meant patience was the order of the day for many travellers.
So far, authorities report no serious injuries from today’s incidents.
Where snowfall was heavier, especially in higher-elevation corridors, roads moved from slushy in the morning to compact snow and refrozen surfaces by evening, raising the risk of spinouts and stuck big rigs.
Despite trouble at several hotspots, some of the usual problem areas, most notably stretches of the Okanagan Connector and large parts of the Coquihalla, were not reporting major, system-wide incidents at the time of the latest updates.
That said, forecasts still called for additional accumulating snow in pockets, so conditions could remain challenging through the night.
Bottom line for drivers: Check DriveBC and local forecasts before heading out.
