Equipment Upgrades will affect thousands of Okanagan customers

Vernon, BC - November 2, 2025 - BC Hydro has scheduled a series of planned power outages in Vernon, Lake Country, and West Kelowna to perform essential maintenance and upgrades on electrical equipment.

Hydro says the work is necessary to improve system reliability and prevent future unplanned disruptions, affecting a total of up to 10,400 customers in the Okanagan and Kootenay regions.

In Vernon, two separate outages are set for early November

November 5, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: This will involve two short switching outages, each lasting up to one hour—one between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and another between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The interruptions will impact parts of the Vernon and Kelowna areas, affecting approximately 2,757 customers. November 6, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: A full-day outage will affect 1,940 customers in specific neighborhoods, including Adventure Bay Rd, Aquarius Rd, Balsam Crt, Bayswater Pl, Beachcomber Rd, Bella Vista Rd, Cameo Dr, Cordon Pl, Crofton Rd, Davidson Pl, Farchant Way, Fleming Rd, Foster Rd, Garmish Rd, Garnet Rd, Goldclaim Rd, Hampshire Cres, Harvest Crt, Jade Rd, Joharon Rd, Kennedy Ln, Kestrel Crt/Pl, 15 and 27 Kolibri Way, Lakeridge Dr, Lakeshore Rd, Ogata Way, Okanagan Hills Blvd, Old Stamp Rd, Oxford Rd, Palmer Rd, Peregrine Way, Rising View Wy, Scott Rd, Silversage Pl/Bluff/Ridge/Ter, Somerset Pl, Stonington Rd, 67 and 71 Swallows Pl, Tavistock Rd, Topaz Rd, Tronson Rd, Vineyard Wy, and Vineyard Wy North.

Both Vernon outages are due to planned equipment work, with the latest updates posted on October 24 and 25.

Residents in Lake Country should prepare for an outage on

November 13, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., impacting 1,278 customers in areas such as Apex Cres/Dr/Lane, Cliffshore Crt/Dr/Rd, Cliffstone Cres/Crt, Derek Trethewey Dr, Driftwood Crt, East Ridge Crt/Dr/Rd, Eastridge Dr, Gibbons Dr, Lake Hill, Lake Breeze Crt, Lake Hill Dr/Lane/Rd/Way, Lake Vista Crt/Rd, Lakehill Dr/Lane/Rd, Oceola Rd, Old Mission Rd, Parkside Cres, Ponderosa Dr/Rd, Porter Dr, Sandy Cove Crt, Shoreline Dr/Rd/Way, Silvia Lan, Staccato Dr, Stillwater Crt/Way, Sunny Lake Crt, Sylvia Lane, and Sylvia Rd.

In West Kelowna, multiple outages are planned

November 5, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Matches the Vernon short switching outages, affecting the same 2,757 customers in shared Vernon-Kelowna areas.
November 5, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: A targeted outage for 12 customers at 2427–2450 Asquith Crt.
November 4, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Pole replacement affecting 7 customers at 2740 and 2750 Smith Creek Rd, 2810 Smith Creek Rd, and 3184 Shetler Dr.
November 5, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Fewer than 5 customers at the 26/27 km mark on N Westside Rd.
