Armstrong streets fill for 125th IPE Parade

ARMSTRONG, B.C. - Spectators lined the streets of Armstrong on Saturday morning as the annual Interior Provincial Exhibition parade made its way through town, marking the fair’s 125th year.

The procession was scheduled for 10 a.m. but rolled out closer to 10:15–10:20 a.m. It lasted just over 25 minutes, with floats, vintage vehicles, community groups, livestock entries, and marching units passing along the usual route after staging at Pleasant Valley Secondary School.
Crowds along the sidewalks were a bit thinner than in some recent years, possibly because of cooler weather that sat in the low teens.
Those who turned out were nevertheless enthusiastic, cheering the entries that reflected this year’s theme celebrating photography and 125 years of agricultural excellence.
The parade remains one of the most visible traditions of IPE week, which ran Sept. 2–6.
The fair, which began as a small farm show around 1900, continues through Sunday with livestock shows, the midway, live music, barn dances, and the CPRA rodeo finale.
