Advance Notice Issued for Expected Evacuation Order Near Quilpituk Creek Wildfire
Quilpituk Creek Wildfire August 1 2026

August 5 2026 - Central Okanagan Emergency Management (COEM) issued an advance notice Wednesday evening that the current Evacuation Alert for Shelter Cove, Secret Point and Cinnabar Creek is expected to be upgraded to an Evacuation Order Thursday morning.

The move is linked to the Quilpituk Creek wildfire. BC Wildfire Service has advised that forecasted weather conditions are expected to increase fire behaviour and contribute to further growth of the blaze.

COEM emphasized that this is not an Evacuation Order at this time and residents are not being asked to leave yet.

The early warning is intended to give people extra time to prepare themselves, their families, pets and property.

A list of specific Westside Road addresses is included in the anticipated order. Emergency Support Services will become available once the order takes effect.

Residents can check whether their property is affected using the interactive map at https://www.coemergency.ca/map.

COEM urges those in the alert area to gather essential items, make arrangements for pets and family members, fuel vehicles, and ensure they are subscribed to emergency notifications at COEmergency.ca/subscribe.
