Shortly after 4 PM Wednesday, 911 operators received calls reporting flames and smoke inside a unit at Albert Place in the 3600 block of 25th Avenue.
Vernon Fire Rescue Service responded along with BC Ambulance and RCMP.
One person, believed to have 3rd-degree burns, was taken by ambulance to hospital.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing flames through the suite's open door. It is believed the unit occupant was inside at the time.
No cause for the fire has been released at this time.
A 3rd alarm was called. The fire was contained to the first-floor unit.
