The Vernon Fire Rescue Services has concluded their investigation into the cause of the fire that destroyed the North Vernon Gymnastics building on October 31st.
The cause of the fire has been deemed "suspicious." by the VFRS.
Its believed the building was already fully involved when the calls were first made to 911.
Fire Chief David Lind:
“By the time firefighters received the call, the building was already heavily involved,” “Due to the nature of the fire and the material that was burning inside, crews had to use a defensive approach from the exterior of the building to contain the scene and keep everyone safe. Unfortunately, the outcome of the fire was that the entire building was lost.”
The file has been handed over to the RCMP for further investigation.
No more information about the fire or its suspicious cause is available at this time.
This news comes on the heals of Vernon North Valley Gymnastics posting their intention to rebuild.
