Tragedy Strikes the Nelson Police Force

Two Officers from the Nelson BC Police department were caught in a deadly avalanche 60km North of the city around noon Monday, January 9th.

Constable Wade Tittemore age 43 was killed by the avalanche, his companion, Constable Mathieu Nolet age 28 was critically injured and remains in ICU.


The two Nelson Constables were off duty at the time of the accident,

exploring the backcountry near Kaslo when the slide hit.


Constable Tittemore was an avid backcountry enthusiast. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
