Skimmers Over Penticton

Updated: Oct 23

Looking back to the week of August 29th, 2021. The publics' favorite fire-fighting aircraft, the Skimmers, circled over Penticton on their way to fight the Skaha Hills fire just west of the city.

The AT-802F “Fire Boss” Amphibious Airtankers circled Penticton for over an hour making their circuit from Okanagan Lake to the Skaha Hills wildfire.

Normally there are 6 Skimmers working as a team. In the video, you may notice there are only 5 AT-802Fs in the air. Earlier that day one of the Fire Bosses made an unplanned landing on Skaha Lake to check out a mechanical issue.
