February 17th, Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) handled two separate structure fires.
The first incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of 28th Avenue. When VFRS arrived they found an outbuilding fully involved.
Crews contained the fire, preventing its spread to nearby structures.
The cause of this blaze is under investigation by the RCMP.
The second structure fire occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m..
Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 1400 block of 39-B Avenue.
When they arrived crews found the exterior of the homes garage was on fire and the flames were spreading into its attic.
Quick work by the Vernon Fire Rescue crews quickly got the situation under control and saved the house.
No injuries were reported. BC Ambulance Service and RCMP were on scene.
The cause of the afternoon fire has not been determined but officials have ruled out any suspicion of foul play.
