New Water Line Break in Coldstream, Hours After Nearby Rupture Repaired
2024-08-30: Only hours after Coldstream City Works completed an emergency repair on a ruptured water main Friday morning, another break occurred Friday night, this time at the intersection of McClounie Road and Coldstream Creek Road, just half a kilometer away from the earlier repair.
Coldstream Fire Hall responded to the alert, directing traffic off the affected road until City Works crews arrived.
Earlier in the day, the original water main rupture prompted the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) to issue a Water Quality Advisory for parts of Coldstream Creek Road and surrounding areas. The advisory remains in effect as crews work to repair the new break and ensure water safety.
Residents in the affected areas may experience reduced water pressure, discolored water, and/or air in the lines when water service resumes. It is advised to run a cold water tap, preferably an outside tap, until the water clears. Some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth.
We checked out the damage the following day. You can watch the video HERE
