September 18 2025 - Vernon Fire Rescue was called out to a fast-growing brush fire just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
The blaze broke out on a steep rock face near Adventure Bay and Tronson Roads, just below several homes.
All three Vernon fire halls responded, joined by BX Swan Lake Fire, which brought additional water supply equipment. The BC Wildfire Service also provided air support.
Fire crews set up between the flames and nearby homes, backed by two helicopters that took turns dropping water on the burning trees and brush in the inaccessible rocky terrain below.
Overhead, one or two BC Wildfire heavy air tankers circled under the direction of a Bird Dog spotter aircraft but were not needed and later returned to base.
The fire was brought under control and will continue to be monitored through the night.
