Search Continues Okanagan Lake Paddleboarder
Search teams returned in daylight Wednesday as the hunt continued for a paddleboarder missing on Okanagan Lake.
VSAR and COSAR had boats on the water, later joined by an RCMP Air One helicopter.
Crews confirmed the area where a woman was pulled from the lake Tuesday night, then went back over points of interest flagged last night and early this morning.
Checked again in daylight, none of those spots turned out to be the missing person.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP released official details this morning. Police say they were notified just before 7 p.m. Tuesday of a marine incident between Fintry Provincial Park and Carr’s Landing.
A man and a woman were in distress on paddleboards. A Kelowna Fire Rescue boat rescued the woman from the water. The man was not located.
Sunset in the area was about 7:00 p.m., and it was dark by around 7:30 p.m. Gusting winds were reported about 8:30 p.m.
It is unknown weather the wind or darkness played a part. The circumstances that led to the incident have not been officially released.
